Our current bishop is a little more lenient on letting conversations run, but both run very tight, very efficient meetings. Our last bishop was merciless in cutting off unnecessary conversation. YM will you be in charge of this activity? Great. Planning goes something like this: We should have a ward Halloween party. The understanding is, you only bring to ward council the things you need help with that extend beyond your org. There are no "how is XYZ organization doing?" type conversations.Tasks are reviewed at the end of each meeting to confirm everyone knows what to do during the week.People are assigned (or volunteer) for tasks and are expected to report back There is an agenda, mailed out a couple days before the meeting.There are some similarities between the two I've noticed. Both bishops are business executives, so they know how to run meetings. While they each had their own style, they each managed to get a lot done in ward council. ![]() I've been going to our ward council for years under 2 different bishops. The bishop was released shorty after and it never quite worked so well with the next group. It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. Primary sometimes chimed in on investigator children. RS discussed any sisters not otherwise mentioned that needed help. Any who wanted further contact with the church were given to the EQ/HP to assign home teachers, RS as necessary assigned VT.ĮQ/HP each reported on the 2-4 individuals they were focusing on activating or preparing for priesthood advancement with emphasis on next steps / invitations. Missionaries report on less active they visited. Any attending church were assigned members to greet them and stay with them through 2nd hour. They detailed which members attended discussions or had connections to the investigators. Missionaries report on investigators by name. They lasted about 40 minutes and went something like this: ![]() The most effective ward councils I've attended focused on individuals.
